Aquamation Services

A Gentle Return to the Elements

At Ikaroa Falls, we offer a peaceful alternative to traditional methods through the gentle power of water. Our Aquamation service—technically known as alkaline hydrolysis—mirrors the natural transition of the earth, using a quiet flow of water and temperature to return a loved one to their simplest form. It is a slow, respectful process that honors the environment and provides families with a beautiful, life-affirming way to say goodbye.

Aquamation Options

A Shared Journey

Communal Aquamation is a dignified choice for families who do not wish to have their pet’s remains returned to them.

In this process, several pets are placed together in the vessel. Because they are not separated, their remains are co-mingled. Following the process, these collective remains are typically scattered in a beautiful, natural setting—such as a memorial garden or at sea. It is a lovely way for a pet to return to the earth as part of a collective, natural cycle.

Starting at $100
Included as applicable:

  • Custom plaster paw or nose/beak casting

  • Furr clipping

  • Communal Scattering at Sea by Ikaroa Falls on behalf of the pet’s family

Communal Aquamation

Individual Aquamation means that multiple pets are present in the machine at the same time, but—and this is the vital part—each pet is placed within their own completely separate, secure compartment. Why do we insist on calling it "Individual" rather than "Private"? Because in our view, it is unethical to call a process "private" if there are other pets in the vessel, even if they are separated. We choose honesty over marketing fluff.

With our Individual Aquamation, we utilize an iron-clad chain of custody and a rigorous identification process. This virtually guarantees that there is zero chance of co-mingling. It ensures that your pet is the only pet in their urn, and that they are exactly where they are supposed to be at every moment they are in our care.

Starting at $150
Included as applicable:

  • Return of ashes in a sustainable bamboo urn

  • Custom plaster paw or nose/beak casting

An Exclusive Farewell

For some families, the need for absolute solitude is paramount. True Private Aquamation is the most exclusive option we offer.

In a Private service, your pet is the only soul in the entire machine. Because this option requires the unit to be occupied by only one pet, it utilizes a "full load" of the system’s resources for a single cycle. Because of the dedicated time, energy, and exclusive use of the technology, this option does carry a significantly higher investment.

This is the "gold standard" for those who want to know, with absolute certainty, that the entire space was held for their beloved and no one else.

Starting at $2,400
Included as applicable:

  • Return of ashes in a sustainable bamboo urn

  • Complete return of the nutrient rich nutrient rich liquid byproduct (if requested)

  • Custom clay paw or nose/beak casting

  • Furr clipping

  • One hour Private Viewing in The Glade our private suite for reflection, remembrance, gathering, and quiet connection.

  • Same day Aquamation (the entire process can take 48-72 hours to complete)
